Criteria for In-Kind Donations

Guidelines may change without notice, based on space availability and need. Sandtown Habitat/ReStore reserves the right to refuse any item.

APPLIANCES	· Clean and in working condition · 5 years old or newer · No electronics (TVs, computers, stereos of any kind)
CABINETS, COUNTERTOPS	· Must be complete, clean, and undamaged including doors, drawers, and hardware · Countertops must be in good condition, 4’ x 18” minimum size
CARPET	· New or “gently used”, clean with no stains or odors · Must be rolled · No installed or shag carpet
DOORS	· Pre-hung or slab free of rots, cracks, and in good condition, all panes intact · Exterior/interior entry
DRYWALL	· Full or half sheets only · No water marks or broken corners
ELECTRICAL	· Residential only · Wire, plugs, plates, and hardware associated with wiring; sorted by type or part · Lights must be in working order, clean, rust free, NO missing parts · Fans must be working; blades removed and taped to motor with all mounting hardware
FLOORING	· Sheet vinyl in usable lengths, rolled and taped · Tiles – ceramic kitchen and bath – unopened quantities of 10 sq. ft. or more · Wood flooring must be free from rot and in usable quantities (25 sq. ft. or more)
FURNITURE	· NO ripped, torn, stained, or soiled material · Must be in overall good to excellent condition · NO broken items or bedding · Acceptance conditional on space available
HARDWARE	· Hardware for doors, cabinets, etc. in good condition · NO missing parts, including keys · Fasteners – unopened boxes of nails, screws, bolts, etc.
INSULATION	· Unopened fiberglass rolls (R13, R38 only for houses, ReStore all sizes) · Boards if clean and 16 sq. ft. or larger
LUMBER	· Milled lumber – 4’ lengths or greater, free of cracks, rot, and insects, treated or non-treated · Plywood and other sheet goods – 1/4 or larger sheets · Trim – 4’ lengths or greater · Siding, vinyl – excellent condition, 300 sq. ft. minimum
PAINT/WALL COVERINGS	· Latex only - new, full, unopened 1 or 5 gallon cans; color must be identified · Full, unopened rolls of wall coverings
PLUMBING	· Sinks - all types, no rust or cracks · Bathtubs – new or “gently” used, clean, non-stained, no chips · Toilets – complete units, new/clean and in working condition · Faucets – complete sets only · Pipe – PVC, metal, copper
ROOFING	· Full bundles, complete pieces (no scraps) · Rolls of roofing material, ½ roll minimum · New roofing and gutter materials in full pieces with no rust or damage
TOOLS	· Hand and power tools in working condition
VENTS	· Floor, ceiling, return – clean and in good condition
WINDOWS	· Dual pane only, good condition, glass intact, complete units · Wooden windows must be free from rot · Vinyl or wood only; NO aluminum

UNACCEPTABLE

· Used blinds

· Broken or unframed glass or mirrors

· Clothing

· Drapes

· Open or partially used cans of paint

· Paint thinner or other hazardous/toxic chemicals

· Pesticides (liquid or powder)

· Any non-working appliance

· Mattresses or used bedding
