What is a
ReStore? |
ReStores are retail
outlets that accept
donations of new and used
building materials and home
fixtures to sell at 50-75%
off retail price. More than
500 HFH affiliates across
the U.S. & Canada have
established ReStores. They
have gross incomes ranging
from $30,000-$3.5 million as
well as diverting 5,700 tons
from going into landfills
each year. HFHI's
Environmental Initiative
cites the statistic that for
every million persons in a
metropolitan area, more than
250 houses worth of usable
building material is thrown
away each month by home
builders. This waste
constitutes far more houses
thrown away than HFH
actually builds worldwide.
