What is the purpose of the Sandtown
ReStore?
The primary mission of the ReStore is to make new and gently used home
improvement and building materials available to Sandtown residents and
homeowners, as well as to others interested in quality merchandise at
discount prices. Our secondary mission is to raise money for rehabbing
additional houses in the neighborhood.
|
 |
How are prices determined?
Prices are based on condition and number available for sale and are
usually set at 10-50% of retail, with occasional items of significantly
higher value set somewhat higher. Prices are strictly non-negotiable
because we wish to be fair to all of our customers. Providing a discount
to one customer and not another is discrimination and inherently unfair.
|
 |
Why are all sales "cash and carry" and
final?
We have a very limited amount of display and storage space, so we are
unable to accommodate layaway or partial payments on merchandise. Items
paid in full can remain in our store up to 7 days while the customer
arranges for pickup. Items "with a plug" (appliances and electronics)
may be returned within 7 days for store credit, repair, or refund.
|
 |
Can you pick up items I wish to donate?
We offer a limited pickup service for larger donations. This is
dependent on the quantity and quality of your donation, your location,
and our availability to perform the pickup. Please call the ReStore
line, 410-669-3309, ext. 16, with questions. A donation to offset the
cost of the pickup may be requested.
|
 |
May I bring donations to your store at
my own convenience?
We accept drop-off donations during the week, Tuesday-Friday, from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m. Please call first to confirm that yours are items we can
accept. See also our list of acceptable donations. PLEASE DO NOT DROP
ITEMS AT OUR WAREHOUSE WHEN NO ONE IS AVAILABLE TO RECEIVE THEM.
|
 |
Is there someone who can answer my
questions about items I want to donate?
Absolutely. You may leave a message on the ReStore line and someone will
return your call within two business days. Alternately, you may send
your questions to
restore@sandtownhabitat.org.
|
 |
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, to the full extent of the law. Sandtown Habitat is a 501(c)3
charitable organization. Please consult with an accountant regarding
assigning a value to your donation. |
